Dr. Kaya received her degrees in Environmental Engineering including her Ph.D. from Middle East Technical University, while postdoctoral trainings in Microbiology at University of Tennessee Knoxville / Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Maryland College Park. Her research interests include environmental and public health; bioremediation; water treatment and reuse; and wastewater-based epidemiology. Currently, at Oregon State University (OSU), Dr. Kaya leads laboratory efforts of statewide wastewater surveillance projects for infectious disease control. She particularly enjoys mentoring students and was recently awarded with OSU’s 2022 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring by a Postdoc Award.
